Making a difference in Uganda...

 

This Community Based Organisation (CBO) is registerd with the Ntungamo District Government Office and was formed in 2007 by members of three villages in Ruhanga Parish, South-West Uganda.

The aim of the Ruhanga Community Development Project (RCDN) is to initiate projects which will help to improve the quality of life and begin to eradicate poverty for village members.

The RCDN aims to support local communities and groups by initiating education projects and small income-producing businesses that will help to enhance the quality of life for several hundred people.

The overall result will be a reduction of poverty and a noticeable improvement in the health and living conditions throughout these villages.


Objectives of the RCDN

 

Tailoring Lessons Carpentry Tool Kit Knitting School Sweaters

  1. To act as an umbrella to encourage and strengthen close collaboration and networking among local communities to promote poverty eradication
  2. To assist communities in setting up various new income generating activities
  3. To assist grass root communities to gain some new skills
  4. To educate communities & villages in basic homestead hygiene, sanitation, protection of water sources & and improvements in nutrition

'Let Them Help Themselves' is a London based support group raising funds and developing resources to help this Community Based Organisation (CBO) in the Ruhanga area. They are hosting a Gala Dinner and Auction at the Hilton Hotel, Cobham Surrey on Friday October 17th, 2008.
